Kidder Township Supervisor Mary Farnschlader is spearheading a preliminary survey for residents' enthusiasm for a library. Farnschlader and resident Barbara Franzosa both explained during the Supervisors meeting Thursday night that a Community Survey would be distributed through May to gauge support for a local Library possibly near the Albrightsville Post Office prior to any grant seeking.

Residents in Kidder Township and adjacent Penn Forrest rely solely on the libraries located in the town of Jim Thorpe and White Haven. Many residents have shown a positive response for a local library, Farnschlader indicated.Prior to any grant proposals, Franzosa spoke during public forum. She said residents from both townships are asked to fill out the survey to determine if a library is indeed feasible which is required. The survey asks to indicate number of adults in a household, school age, and preschool in addition, those residing outside of those townships can also opt in to take the survey for additional input. The survey asks if other services would be used such as computer access, wifi, movies, in addition to volunteer hours and comments. This project is in its grass roots stages and Farnschlader said that the survey will run into May. The surveys will be distributed in and around both municipalities.Kidder Townships population can increase from 1,800 full time residents to over 10,000 people on weekends and holidays according to the newly released Kidder Township Green and Blue Pages.Frank Gilotti unveiled the colorful Kidder Township Green and Blue Pages 60 page glossy magazine with a cover by local photographer, Robert Dobosh depicting a scenic clear river flowing over stones and fall foliage.A resident and member of the Kidder Township Environmental Advisory Council, Gilotti held up the magazine proudly telling residents and supervisors that funding for the magazine came through several granting sources including former State Rep. Keith McCall and staff Kate McMullen, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Community and Economic Development, and the Urban Development Grant and many members volunteer hours. Copies were given to everyone present at the meeting.Gilotti also said at the meeting along with member Barbara Franzosa that an Annual Spring Workshop is sponsored by the KTEAC and planned for June 2 from 9am till noon at the Kidder Township Municipal Building bringing in speakers from the Carbon County Master Gardeners Association.
