A petition bearing signatures of over 500 taxable residents of eastern Rush Township was filed in Schuylkill County Court today by attorney Frank Allen.

The petition states that the residents desire to be an independent school district in order to remain affiliated with the Tamaqua Area Joint School District, as opposed to a move to form an independent district in the western part of the township which would be a part of the Mahanoy Area jointure.
