It's time for Spring cleaning in Tamaqua

The Tamaqua Beautification Association, the South Ward Neighborhood Committee, concerned residents, local scouts and Tamaqua Area School District students will be combining forces with Schuylkill-Keep It Pretty in the Great Pennsylvania Spring 2012 Cleanup this Saturday, April 21. Two different areas of the borough will be targeted in the clean up campaign - the downtown area and the South Ward.

The Tamaqua Beautification Association will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the M and T Bank parking lot at East Broad and Center Streets. They will then fan out andcover Broad Street, Center Street, Cottage Avenue, Hegarty Avenue, Mauch Chunk Street, Railroad Street, Rowe Street and the public playground and parking areas.The SWNC will meet at 8:30 at the South Ward Playground, Race and Oak Streets, targeting as many streets as volunteers and time permit. The main targets of interest this year will be the Carriage Street Stairway area and the Hunter/Spruce Street lot. With enough volunteers, other streets will also be targeted.Garbage bags, safety vests, gloves and complimentary beverages will be provided. Tamaqua residents and business owners may want to lend a hand bytaking care of their own sidewalks and properties that day.Filled trash bags must be left along side a state highway for collection, or be transported to a dumpster located behind the Tamaqua Municipal Building, 320 E.
