20 year old man rescued after collapsing in Middleport mountains

A 20 year old man was rescued after collapsing along a logging road behind Middleport around 6 p.m. on Friday. Firefighters said the man, while dizzy, used his cell phone to call 911 after fainting and vomitting blood. A helicopter was called but later canceled as the man was taken to a Pottsville Hospital via ambulance. Rescuers said they found the young man lying on the ground in an area behind Lone Pine Pond, also known as "the beaches." Responding were fire companies from Middleport, New Philadelphia, Cumbola, Yorkville and Kaska. Schuykill Haven and Pottsville Ambulances also responded. Darren Borger, Fire Chief, Citizen's Fire Company of Middleport, who found the man, stated the fire companies appreciation for a quick response from surrounding fire companies. No more information was available as of press time. Citizen's Fire Company of Middleport firefighter Natalie Maurer, on ATV, talks with fellow firefighters during the rescue.
