An American Red Cross Bloodmobile visited Tamaqua on March 28, collecting 42 units of the "gift of life." Meghan Gessat was recognized as a first time donor.Multi-donation awards were presented to Maryann Deeble, one gallon; and Marjorie Heisler, two gallons.Local volunteers assisting Red Cross personnel were Jean Stevens, Darlene and Bob Zeckman, Dolly Shirey and Bob Shirey. The gymnasium at the Tamaqua Salvation Army was converted into a blood collection center through the efforts of Randy Gormley, Jim Gormley, Bob Zeplin, Mike Trubilla, Joe Rimm and John Handler. The men also volunteered at the end of the day to return the gym to its natural state.This visit was sponsored by Marion Fetterman of Professional Massage Therapy, Tamaqua.Summer concertsThe Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce is preparing to celebrate the sixth year of its popular free Summer Concert Series. Due to a reconstruction project at the Owl Creek Dams, the reunion has been moved to La Dolce Casa, 16 W. Broad St., Tamaqua. Festivities will begin at 11:30 a.m. Reservation deadline will be June 1.
