Prothonotary's report

A total of 320 cases were started March in the office of Carbon County Prothonotary Joann M. Behrens, according to a monthly statistical report released by the officeholder. A breakdown of the cases is as follows:Civil actions, 42; custody complaints, 28; district justice appeals, 8; divorce complaints, 26; ejectment complaints, 3; eminent domain/declaration of taking, 5; mortgage foreclosure complaints, 42; name change petition, 1; miscellaneous, 2; partition, 1; protection from abuse petitions, 24; replevin complaints, 2; court rules, 1; judgments, 131; paternity suit, 1; and stipulations/waivers of liens, 3. The office staff also received and processed 134 applications for U.S. Passports.Behrens' financial report shows $36,245.31 was generated last month as follows: prothonotary's fees, $30,109.20; interest income, $3.41; PFA Surcharge, courts, $150; PFA Surcharge, Sheriff, $120.80; custody fees, $600; and data processing fees, $5,261.90.The prothonotary also remitted $5,153.02 to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Revenue, representing state fees collected locally, and $84 to the Administrative Offices of the Pennsylvania Courts, this being surcharges on new custody cases in accordance with Act 119 of 1996.
