Woman lifeflighted after crash with tractor trailer in Kline Twp.

A woman was lifeflighted to a Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, for a head injury around 3 p.m. yesterday after her sport utility vehicle (SUV) impacted a tractor trailer on SR309 in Kline Township, just south of McAdoo near Silver Brook Road.

While traveling north on SR309, the woman, Teresa Sokoloski of Hazleton, reportedly turned her vehicle into the path of a tractor trailer, also traveling north on SR309, driven by Samuel Pagan of Woodbury, N.J.Rescuers had to pop the door off her Honda CR-V to safely remove the woman, who was the only person in the vehicle.The tractor trailer driver was taken via ambulance to the Hazleton General Hospital for unknown injuries. The rig was owned by NFI corporation.Traffic was backed up for about a mile while emergency crews tended to the injured. Damage could be seen on the driver's side of the SUV and front passenger side and tire of the tractor trailer. A helicopter landed on SR309 to transport the woman to the trauma center.Kline Township police were seen taking detailed measurements of the scene. Both vehicles had to be towed.Responding in addition to police from Rush Township, McAdoo and Kline Township, were firefighters from McAdoo, Hazle Township and others. Also responding were McAdoo ambulance, APTS and McAdoo fire police.The conditions of the injured victims were not available as of press time. Kline Township Police Chief John Petrilla said they are still investigating.
