A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 9:24 p.m. on March 21 at the intersection of Jonas and Merwinsburg roads, in Chestnuthill Township.

State police at Fern Ridge said Gerard Vanspanje, 50, of Kunkletown, was operating a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu eastbound on Jonas Road and failed to properly stop for a posted stop sign at the intersection.He traveled off the shoulder and struck a boulder along the berm.After impact the car traveled about 45 feet before coming to rest on the shoulder.Vanspanje was not injured. He was placed under arrest for DUI, troopers said.
