A telegram received by his mother, Mrs. Margaret Moyer, West Front St., Jim Thorpe, confirmed the death of her son, Airman First Class Ellis McKay, in the crash of a four-engine C130E transport at Alencon, France. McKay was one of seven U.S. servicemen who died when the plane struck a high-tension wire during a storm. McKay, 23, graduated from the Jim Thorpe Area High School in 1960 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in May of that year.
