A vehicle caught fire and was destroyed, but the driver and passenger escaped unharmed. State police at Frackville barracks said the incident occurred about 6:10 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, along Interstate 81 in Foster Township.

Troopers said Barry D. Leemann, 65, of Williamstown, N.Y., was driving a 2007 Toyota Rav4 northbound when he noticed smoke and fire inside the vehicle. He pulled onto the berm and he and wife, Karen Leemann, 64, managed to exit the car, and retrieved some items, before it was completely engulfed in flames.
