New York driver cited in Monroe

A New York state driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident in Monroe County.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said on Monday, March 19, about 3:34 p.m. a traffic stop was made at the Interstate 380 on ramp, just off SR940, for a vehicle code violation.The driver was identified as James Ryan Gilhooly, 22, of Brooklyn. Police detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Gilhooly. He failed field sobriety tests and was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test.Gilhooly was then transported to the county prison in Snydersville pending arraignment, police added.
