Tamaqua Police responded around 11:50 p.m. on March 15 to a firearm discharge in an apartment located at 34 Nescopec St. in Tamaqua.

Reportedly, Nikia Broad, 23, of Orwigsburg St. in Tamaqua, was showing someone his Springfield Armory .40 caliber gun when it accidentally fired. The bullet passed through the floor, into a rear door and outside onto a balcony. The bullet stopped after hitting a bucket on the balcony. Charges are pending. The investigating officer is Karl Harig.
