High praise for hospital

Dear Editor:

"Been there, done that," is a favorite catch slogan. Well, for me and the Lehighton Hospital, we have gone there again. Some time ago I wrote you about how proud I am of our hospital, and once again, after a total knee surgery I feel compelled to continue to heap praise on the staff of the "Lehighton Hospital."After a knee replacement a year and a half ago resulted in a blood clot moving into my lungs and the excellent quick thinking and acting on the part of the surgeons, doctors and staff brought me through with no problems, I had reservations as to whether I wanted to go through a second operation.Well, this time there were no problems because I was taken right to

I.C.U. after surgery. The staff in that department made me feel I was the only person there! Subsequently, I was moved to Acute Rehabilitation Department and again the same treatment prevailed. I have nothing but high praise for the staff on that floor. Every person went to the extreme to make me feel comfortable, from the housekeeping personnel to the food servers, to the nurses, doctors, etc.I always enjoy keeping a little humor in a situation which makes time go quicker, and creates a comfortable atmosphere. Even when I saved the mini sausages from breakfast and placed them in the bedpan for the night nurse, it brought a good laugh to everyone. I tried to use the apple juice from breakfast for a "specimen" but when the nurse took it, I stopped her from filing it!I was also reprimanded when I went to the bathroom without ringing for the nurse, which reminded me that they are always concerned for my safety. In conclusion, to me, there is no other hospital except the "Lehighton Hospital."Respectfully yours,Richard M.
