Fire company driveDiligence Fire Company No. 1, Summit Hill, is in the midst of its 2012 fund drive.This is the company's main source of revenue and helps the firemen pay loans associated with its trucks, as well as to provide the apparatus necessary to have a fully-equipped fire service.The donations can be mailed to the company in the envelope provided in the recent mailing, or they can be dropped off at John's Auto Repair or the office of the borough secretary.In addition to the donations, the company is asking townspeople to return the survey information cards that were included in the mailing.This helps the firemen properly identify residents needs in the case of a response.Historical societyThe Summit Hill Historical Society will hold this month's meeting on Wednesday, March 21, at 7 p.m. at the society's new museum, the former Jean McFadden's Grocery Store, 146 W. Ludlow St.Lee Mantz, president, will be in charge of the session, during which time members will discuss the grand re-opening festivities being planned for the Memorial Day weekend.Members will also discuss entering a float in the annual Summit Hill Memorial Day Parade.St. Paul LutheranThe Rev. Peggy Sue Pfeffer, chaplain for Hospice St. John, Hazleton, will be the guest minister at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, on Sunday, March 18.She will preside at the 10:30 a.m. worship service.The Sunday school will meet at 9 a.m.On Saturday, March 24, members of the church's Sunday school will visit the Carbon County Environmental Education Center, White Bear.They will be there from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., during which time they will make bird boxes.LansfordAMVETS meetingsAMVETS Post 83, Lansford, has scheduled three upcoming meetings.The post's St. Patty's Day Dance Committee will meet tonight at 7 o'clock at the post home.On Sunday, March 18, there will be two meetings. The post members will meet at 1 p.m.Commander Perry Shelton will be in charge of the session.Squadron 83 (Sons of the AMVETS) will meet that night at 7 o'clock.Commander Bob Soltis will be in charge of that meeting.
