March 13, 2003 The Panther Valley school board accepts the resignation of girls basketball coach Rob Kovac at its monthly meeting. Kovac had compiled a 99-63 record as the Lady Panthers' mentor during his six years in charge. His best season with PV came in 1998-99 when the Panthers posted a 26-6 record and won the District 11 Class AA championship. That season they also advanced to the PIAA Eastern finals. In 2007, Kovac became the head coach at Jim Thorpe and has been with the Lady Olympians for five seasons.
