Panther Valley Golden Agers

The Panther Valley Golden Agers meeting will be held Monday, March 12 at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph's Social Hall, Summit Hill. Members are asked to wear green to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.Panther Valley Knee-HiThe PV Knee-Hi Association will meet on Tuesday, March 13 at 8 p.m. at The Sports Zoo in Lansford.Summit HillSt. Paul LutheranThe Rev. John Deisinger, a retired minister from Allentown, will be the guest minister at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, on Sunday, March 11. He will preside at the 10:30 a.m. worship service.The Sunday school will meet at 9 a.m.Members of St. Paul's congregational council will meet on Tuesday, March 13 at 7 p.m. in the church.Legion to meetThe monthly meeting of American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, will be held on Monday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the post home. Commander W. Kevin O'Donnell will be in charge of the session.A meeting of the Home Association will immediately follow the post's meeting.Borough councilThe monthly meeting of the Summit Hill Borough Council will be held on Monday, March 12, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall. Michael Kokinda, president, will be in charge of the session.Food pantryThe Summit Hill Food Pantry, headquartered in the Summit Hill Heritage Center building, Hazard and Chestnut streets, will hold its monthly distribution of non-perishable food items to the needy on Tuesday, March 27. This will be the regular Easter distribution.The distributions will take place from 10 a.m. to noon, Participants are asked to note the doors of the pantry will close promptly at 12:15 p.m.Persons who have been receiving the food "boxes" are asked to note no telephone call reminders will be made. In the event there is a change in pantry hours due to snowstorms, etc., the recipients will be notified by telephone. Rosemarie Armon, pantry director, is maintaining an up-to-date roster with telephone numbers of regular recipients. Anyone whose contact information changes is required to notify her of that information.LansfordAMVETS newsAMVETS Post 83, Lansford, will not have a meeting on Sunday, March 11, as originally planned. The meeting is postponed due to the St. Patty's Day parade being held that day in Jim Thorpe.Instead, the post members will meet on Sunday, March 18, at 1 p.m. at the post home. Commander Perry Shelton will be in charge of the meeting.A meeting of the Home Association will be held immediately after the post meeting.St. John LutheranLenten Service at St. John the Evangelist Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, Wednesday at 7 p.m. This will be an evening Prayer Service with Holy Communion.
