Drug arrests

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on the following drug-related arrests made by officers.

On Friday, Feb. 24, about 6:16 p.m. officers observed a suspicious vehicle parked at the rear of the parking lot of Summit Lanes, in Pocono Summit, Tobyhanna Township.Officers stopped to investigate and identified the occupants of the vehicle as Frederick James McConnell, 18, of Pocono Summit, and three juvenile males, all 17, two from Pocono Summit and one from Albrightsville.Officers found marijuana on one of the juveniles and conducted a search of the vehicle. Found was drug paraphernalia.McConnell and the three juveniles will have drug counts filed against them, police said.Also on Friday, about 10 p.m., officers made a traffic stop for a motor vehicle code violation along SR115 near Interstate 80. The driver was identified as John McCabe, 18, of Summerville, N.J. A consent search was made of the vehicle with the use of a K9 unit and found was three mason jars filled with marijuana.McCabe was placed under arrest and charged with possession of marijuana.On Saturday, Feb. 25, about 1:06 a.m. officers made a traffic stop along SR115 near a PennDOT shed in Blakeslee, for speeding. The driver was identified as Brian Kurz, 23, of Pocono Lake. While speaking with the driver officers noticed a multi-colored glass pipe in the cupholder on the center console.The pipe was found to contain residue as it was used to smoke marijuana. Police said Kurz will be charged with possession.
