'Messiah in the Passover' demonstration set for Tamaqua

Tamaqua's First United Methodist Church is hosting "Messiah in the Passover," a vivid demonstration showing how Jesus fulfilled the ancient feast of Passover, Saturday, March 31, beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Klaudia Zhelezn of Chosen People Ministries will present a program that begins with the traditional Passover Seder table complete with all the articles of this important Jewish celebration. Zhelezn will explain the symbolic meanings of the various items of the Passover feast and highlight their relationship to the Last Supper that the Messiah celebrated with the disciples, giving special emphasis on the redemptive significance of the crucifixion.According to Zhelezn, the program gives the Christian community insight into Jewish traditions so that the Jewish roots of Christianity can be better understood. It also helps the Jewish and Christian communities understand their common heritage.Chosen People Ministries is an over 100-year-old mission founded in 1894 by Leopold Cohn, a Hungarian rabbi who came to believer that Jesus is the Messiah promised by the Hebrew Scriptures. From humble beginnings in Brooklyn, N.Y.
