Burglaries probed

State police at Lehighton reported investigating burglaries that occurred in Carbon and Monroe counties, as well as incidents of theft.

A break-in occurred at the Alliance Sand Quarry, located at 415 Golf Road, in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Unknown criminals smashed windows out of an electrical building and a storage shed.Removed from the buildings were such items as copper wiring, a truck battery, wheelbarrow, drill bits and teeth, electrical cords, oxygen and acetylene tanks and an aluminum truck rim. An additional listed victim is Silver Valley Drilling and Blasting, of Saylorsburg.The incident occurred sometime between 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, and 7 a.m. on Tuesday.The Monroe entry occurred at the Ramos/Ott residence at 110 Birch, in Ken Mar Acres, in Polk Township. Entry was gained by kicking open the front door. Once inside the criminals rummaged through various areas of the home removing two laptop computers, an Apple Ipad, a military style vest and a welding helmet.Listed victims are Leah Ott, 25, and Christopher Ott, 28. The incident occurred sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday.James Richard Mautz, of Bethlehem, reported someone removed a snowboard from his employee locker at the Blue Mountain Ski Resort in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County. The theft occurred sometime between 4 and 5 p.m. on Feb. 6.Troopers also reported a identity theft incident. Todd Richard Berger, 47, of Bowmanstown, reported when he went to file his income taxes he learned that someone had already used is Social Security number to file taxes. The incident was reported on Wednesday, Feb. 22.Stacey Ann Grega, 36, of Summit Hill, reported someone spray painted her 2007 Ford Fusion with white paint while parked at 110 Serfass Lane, in Ross Township, Monroe County. Damages were estimated at $500. The incident occurred sometime between midnight and 8 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19.Anyone with information on any of these incidents is asked to call troopers at 610-377-4270.
