A man posing as a police officer is attempting to pull over drivers in the Rush Township/Tuscarora area.

Nesquehoning police officer Carl Breiner said that he received a report on Feb. 22 from a man who said his son was pulled over on Route 54 near the Carbon/Schuylkill County line by a tall, thin, white male who claimed to be an undercover Nesquehoning police officer. The man was driving a white unmarked Crown Victoria equipped with a dash light.Breiner immediately contacted Rush Township police so they were aware of the incident.About two hours later, the Schuylkill Communications Center received a call that the driver of an unknown white unmarked Crown Victoria attempted to pull over an unknown female in the Tuscarora area. The driver ceased his pursuit when the woman refused to pull over and stop.Police urge drivers to be vigilant. If they believe the same thing is happening to them, they should pull over in a well-lighted area in order to be able to identify the person as a legitimate police officer.Police advise going to the closest police station or to a populated public area such as an open gas station, shopping mall or fast food restaurant.Drivers should also call 911 to verify that a police officer is attempting to pull them over.Anyone having information about or a similar experience with the driver of the white Crown Victoria is asked to call Nesquehoning police at (570) 669-9111 or Rush Township police at (570) 668-4242.
