(15-9).Notes - Yanovich's lone win this week came against (23-12) Shane Jones of Stroudsburg. The PV wrestler is ranked seventh (up from ninth) in the state in Class AAA by Pennsylvania Wrestling Rankings. He is also the third-ranked wrestler in the Northeast Regional, trailing Parkland's Ethan Lizak (No. 1) and Nazareth's Tyrone Klump (No. 6). Hoats finds himself in the AA rankings for the first time this season, pulling in at 27th. He's the sixth-ranked District 11 wrestlers and No. 10 among Southeast Regional grapplers. Ogozalek received two forfeit wins and became the fifth TIMES NEWS area wrestler (and first outside of Pleasant Valley) to reach 30 wins.113 - 1. Sean Bianco, Pleasant Valley, Jr. (34-1); 2. Colin Mashack, Tamaqua, So. (28-1); 3. Josh Evans, Palmerton, So. (23-3).Notes - Bianco registered a pin in the Bears' MVC-clinching win over Stroudsburg and pushed his winning streak to 26 in a row. He is ranked No. 7 in the state in AAA and is the top-seeded wrestler among District 11 and the Northeast Region. No. 2 in the district and region (and 17th in the state) is Northampton's Zach Valley. The two could meet in Thursday's dual meet. Mashack moves up one spot to 11th in Class AA at 106. That places him third among District 11 wrestlers (behind Becahi's Darian Cruz and Wilson's Jaryd Flank) and sixth in the Southeast Region. Mashack, like Bianco, also has won 26 in a row. Evans dropped to 16th in the state despite not wrestling this past week. He is the third ranked District 11 wrestler (behind Becahi's Zeke Moisey and Pen Argyl's Matt Williams) and fifth in the Southeast Regional. Evans could meet Williams again in the Colonial League playoffs. The Green Knight won a 9-3 decision in their first matchup.120 - 1. Sam Oberlander, Palmerton, Sr. (27-1); 2. James Felipa, Pleasant Valley, Jr. (27-8).Notes - Oberlander didn't wrestle this past week while Felipa dropped his only match, falling to Stroudsburg's Guesseppe Rea (27-6) by a 6-3 score. Oberlander remains the 24th ranked wrestler in AA. He is third among District 11 wrestlers (trailing Saucon Valley's Bryan Israel and Salisbury's Anthony Dee) and fifth in the Southeast Region. Seven of Felipa's last eight matches have gone the distance, and 19 of his 35 bouts this season have resulted in a regular decision win.126 - 1. Michael Dahlstrom, Pleasant Valley, Sr. (34-3); 2. Dillon Masington, Palmerton, Jr. (20-7); 3. Brian Ohl, Jim Thorpe, Jr. (23-15).Honorable Mention - Zachary Glassic, Panther Valley, Fr. (15-14).Notes - Dahlstrom registered a 7-1 over Stroudsburg's Jeff Hernandez (22-12) in his only action of the week. Despite the win, he again dropped in the state rankings falling to fifth in AAA. He is ranked third among District 11 foes (behind Blue Mountain's Corey Keener - who handed Dahlstrom two of his losses - and Liberty's Devon Lotito) and is fouth among Northeast Region wrestlers. Masington didn't see action this week but may get a rematch against Pen Argyl's Andrew Sutton, who handed the Blue Bomber an 11-1 major decision loss earlier this month. Ohl earned his 13th pin of the season in only action of the week. One of those falls came early in the season against Glassic.132 - 1. Ernie Klingel, Pleasant Valley, Sr. (24-3); 2. Dylan Rynkiewicz, Tamaqua, Fr. (19-11); 3. Kyle Baumann, Northern Lehigh, Sr. (14-9).Honorable Mention - Zack Christman, Palmerton, Fr. (14-7).Notes - Klingel gutted out a huge major decision win over Mike Cassano (17-13) of Stroudsburg. Klingel has been nursing a knee injury and will probably not wrestle in Thursday's dual meet against Northampton. The senior, despite missing some time, owns a current 17-match winning streak. Rynkiewicz became the fourth Blue Raider to reach 20 wins this season when he received a forfeit in Tamaqua's only match of the week. Rynkiewicz is 11-6 at 132 and has at least three wins at three different weight classes. Baumann gained a fall against Lehighton and now has seven pins in his 14 wins.138 - 1. Alex Yanovich, Pleasant Valley, Sr. (31-7); 2. Ethan Keichel, Northwestern, Sr. (19-9); 3. Joey Bubble, Palmerton, Jr. (11-8).Notes - Yanovich posted key bonus points, earning a technical fall against Stroudsburg's Brian Morales (13-12). He is 11-2 against District 11 wrestlers this season and 5-1 in MVC action. Yanovich could meet Northampton's Jason Stephen (20-5 and ranked third in the state) on Thursday. Keichel dropped a narrow 3-2 decision to Freedom's Adam Evans. Five of his nine losses have been by three points or less. Bubble didn't wrestle this past week but may be facing Pen Argyl's Jarett Stoelzl for the third time this season when the two teams meet in the Colonial League playoffs. Bubble lost by a point in each of those two matches.145 - 1. Ty Herzog, Northern Lehigh, Jr. (23-5); 2. Anthony Farole, Lehighton, Sr. (27-7); 3. David Gehr, Pleasant Valley, Sr. (23-13).Honorable Mention - Zach Graver, Palmerton, Fr. (17-12); Nick Toth, Tamaqua, Sr. (13-9).Notes - Herzog and Farole could have met last Thursday in dual meet action, but Herzog moved up to 152. The Bulldog posted a major decision against Ian Zimmerman for his 15th straight win. Farole, meanwhile, registered a fall of Dustin Henritzy at 145. Herzog is ranked 11th in the state while Farole is 12th. Only one District 11 and Southeast Regional wrestler (Pen Argyl's Mike Racciato) is ranked ahead of them. Gehr also moved up to 152 in his only action of the week and earned an important 5-1 decision win over Stroudsburg's Keith Howie. He is 9-4 against other District 11 wrestlers.152 - 1. Cody Grohotolski, Palmerton, Sr. (21-4); 2. Dylan Hofmann, Northern Lehigh, Sr. (22-6); 3. Evan Mashack, Tamaqua, Sr. (21-9).Honorable Mention - Joell Toledo, Pleasant Valley, Jr. (20-15)Notes - Grohotolski didn't see action this week, but should see a quality wrestler against Pen Argyl on Saturday. The Blue Bomber will probably meet either JD Rabenold (16-11), Kyler Kutzler (19-13) or Mike Racciato (33-1). Grohotolski has already defeated Kutzler but lost to Racciato. Hofmann is ranked 20th in AA and posted a 6-3 win against Lehighton's Zach Coleman (20-6) at 160. Hofmann is ranked fourth among District 11 wrestlers and seven among Southeast Regional grapplers. Mashack fell to Tri-Valley's Ty Schoffstall, one of the four wrestlers ahead of Hofmann. Shoffstall is No. 6 in the state.160 - 1. Michael Ortiz, Northwestern, Jr. (19-6); 2. Zach Coleman, Lehighton, Sr. (20-6); 3. Brandon Silkowski, Tamaqua, Sr. (21-9).Honorable Mention - Cody Bowman, Northern Lehigh, Jr. (9-6); Marcus Hardiman, Northern Lehigh, Jr. (9-5).Notes - Ortiz earned a major decision against Freedom's Joshua Young, who has 23 wins this season. Ortiz is ranked 14th in AA at 152, trailing just Ryan Todora of Becahi and Ty Schoffstall of Tri-Valley. He is fifth among Southeast Regional wrestlers. Coleman dropped a 6-3 decision to Northern Lehigh's Dylan Hofmann, who also owns a win over Ortiz. He is one of four Indians with 20 wins this season. Silkowski also lost his only decision, falling to Tri-Valley's Sam Scheib who is ranked No. 4 in the state and the top-ranked District 11 wrestler at 160.170 - 1. Mike Balliet, Lehighton. Sr. (25-4); 2. Kyle Greenawald, Northern Lehigh, Sr. (20-4); 3. Mitch Evans, Northwestern, Jr. (14-12).Honorable Mention - Stephen Snyder, Panther Valley, Sr. (15-15).Notes - Balliet registered a major decision over Northern Lehigh's Cody Bowman. In the same match, Greenawald moved up to 182 and pinned the Indians' Joseph Smith. Balliet slipped to No. 15 in the state in AA. He is the third ranked wrestler in District 11, behind Becahi's Elliott Riddick and Tri-Valley's Evan Heffran, and fourth in the Southeast Region. Of his 25 wins, 18 have been by pin. In Greenawald's last 15 bouts, he has won 12 by fall. Evans, who is 9-9 at 170 and 4-2 at 160, suffered a major decision loss to Freedom's Jake Young.182 - 1. Levi Veppert, Northwestern, Sr. (27-2); 2. Richard Nase, Panther Valley, So. (18-9); 3. Joseph Smith, Lehighton, Jr. (14-9).Honorable Mention - Jake Christman, Palmerton, Jr. (13-12).Notes - Veppert was handed a forfeit win in match against Freedom. He remains the seventh ranked wrestler in AA at 182 and trails only Pen Argyl's Dylan Evans in the district. He is third ranked in the Southeast Region. Nase is tied for second in wins on Panther Valley's team. He is suffering from a serious skin condition (see story above). Smith has had a successful season but seven of his nine losses have come by fall, including this past week's pin at the hands of Northern Lehigh's Kyle Greenawald.195 - 1. David Tirpak, Northwestern, Sr. (12-2); 2. Hunter Deihl, Pleasant Valley, Jr. (20-16); 3. John Horvath, Panther Valley, Sr. (18-15).Notes - Tirpak, who was ranked in the state early in the season, has returned from injury and posted two straight falls. Seven of his 12 wins are pins. Deihl lost a decision to a touch opponent in Stroudsburg's Ryan Barry (28-7). The Bear wrestler, however, is just 5-7 in his last 12 matches. Horvath posted a pair of first-period falls this past week and has registered pins in his last four matches.220 - 1. Kane Kralik, Palmerton, Sr. (25-1); 2. Kyle Schomp, Northern Lehigh, Sr. (16-11); 3. Dominick Ammirato, Pleasant Valley, Jr. (17-15).Honorable Mention - Rian Shubeck, Panther Valley, Fr. (18-14).Notes - Kralik didn't wrestle this week but has a good chance of facing Pen Argyl's Brady Mutton for the third time when their teams meet in the Colonial League playoffs. Kralik defeated the Green Knight both teams, each by a point, and is ranked 11th in the state. Mutton is 12th. Both are just behind the top-ranked Southeast Regional wrestler - Eastern York's Buck Kauffman, who is No. 10 in the state. Schomp received a forfeit win against Lehighton and has six falls and three majors this season. Ammirato lost a major decision to Stroudsburg's Keyautay Aulder, who has 21 wins.285 - 1. Mike Benner, Pleasant Valley, Jr. (21-11); 2. Luke Matsago, Tamaqua, Jr. (15-8); 3. Skyler Rosenberry, Palmerton, Jr. (15-9).Honorable Mention - Ryan Ruberto, Jim Thorpe, Jr. (13-11).Notes - Benner came through with possibly the biggest win in PV's victory over Stroudsburg. He earned a first-period pin over Cody Cooper (27-10) and now has 14 falls on the season. Matsago posted a decision win over Tri-Valley's Mason White and is now 8-2 in his last 10 bouts. Rosenberry was off this week and will probably face a tough challenge this weekend when the Bombers face Pen Argyl. Rosenberry has lost twice to the Knights' Kirby Mutton, who is ranked seventh in the state.(Compiled by Rod Heckman)
