The Tamaqua Seniors met Feb. 2 at the Tamaqua Community Center with 84 members and one guest, Joanne Ross, in attendance.Rose Vallee provided the invocation, entitled "Point of View." Reports were also offered by Vice President Nancy Gerber and secretary Joan Anne Garber.Jayne Myers was added to the sick list and Mary Herbig is recuperating at home following a hospitalization.The meeting concluded with cards and social games.The group meets every Thursday, at 1 p.m., at the community center. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join. The center is handicap accessible.WP softballRegistration for West Penn Girls Softball will be held Feb. 11, 9 a.m. to noon, at the West Penn Township Municipal Building. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 a.m. traditional and 10:30 a.m. contemporary worship services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday school classes will be held at 9:30 a.m.Also on Sunday, the monthly service at the Tamaqua ABC High Rise will be celebrated at 6 p.m. and the Song of Solomon group will meet at 6:30 p.m.Bethany is offering the community the opportunity to make an impact through a series of small, Bible based "Growth Groups." There will be a total of 13 different groups, each meeting one night each week, beginning this week. Some of the sessions require a small fee for materials.Activities for next week will include: Monday, Women of the Old Testament group meets at 6:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Prayer time at 8:30 a.m.; Wednesday, Tamaqua Youth Ministry meets at 6:30 p.m., GriefShare will be held at 6:30 p.m. and The Story group will meet at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, the Jesus' Final Week group will meet at 1 p.m., Men's Fraternity will meet at 6:30 p.m. and the Forgiveness group will meet at 7 p.m.; Friday, the group Courageous for Men and Women will meet at 7 p.m.; Saturday, musician rehearsal at 9 a.m., Praise practice at 9:30 a.m.St. Peter's UnionThe Rev. Cheryl Moore will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Boy Scout Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. The service will include a Joyous Noise Offering for the Children's Home of Easton. Sunday school classes will meet at 10:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, a Lucky Lollipop fellowship will follow the worship service, Confirmation class will meet at 11:30 a.m.; Daisies and Brownies will meet at 6:30 p.m.Activities for next week will include: Monday, food co-op at 9 a.m.; Thursday, prayer group meets at 5 p.m., cherub choir rehearses at 6:30 p.m., junior choir meets at 7 p.m., senior choir rehearses at 7:30 p.m.
