Members of the Board of Supervisors in Mahoning Township have been obliged because of the high cost of living to eliminate the post of part-time police chief. John Danyo, Beaver Run Road, held the post, now abolished, for the past three years. He is also employed by the Panther Valley Coal Company. State Police at the Lehighton barracks will handle all police work in the township. Township supervisors Chester Snyder, Lee O'Brien, and Robert Blew will hold a discussion with township residents on Feb. 6 on the matter.
