Lady Raiders set up showdown

The Tamaqua girls swim team remained undefeated in Schuylkill League action by cruising to a win over North Schuylkill.

The win sets up a showdown for the league title as the Lady Raiders (10-1; 4-0) travel to Blue Mountain (8-2; 4-0) on Thursday.In other local action, the Palmerton girls basketball team qualified for the district playoffs with a win over Catasauqua.SWIMMINGTamaqua-No. SchuylkillTamaqua swept North Schuylkill in swimming action on Thursday afternoon with the men gaining an 84-48 decision and the women cruising to a 132-32 victory.For the Lady Raiders, Danielle DeCindio took home victories in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Fly. Joann Butkus continued her successful season, winning the 500 Freestyle while competing on every Tamaqua relay team. The Lady Raiders won every relay event against the Lady Spartans.For the Tamaqua boys, Gage Whalen took home two wins in the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Fly.
