Thorpe man jailed on several counts

A Jim Thorpe man was jailed on several counts following an incident on Friday, Jan. 13.

Borough police said they were dispatched about 4:06 a.m. to 418 School St. for a reported of a female being assaulted by her ex-boyfriend, who was identified as Peter Hydro, 43, of 711 Lehigh St.While en route, police observed Hydro standing at the corner of Sixth and North streets. Hydro was detained and transported to the scene of the alleged incident.On scene the officers learned through an investigation that Hydro had entered the residence of Kathleen Tessitore and began to pull her hair and choke her. The attack woke up Tessitore's daughter, Tess M. Moyer, who tried to stop Hydro.Hydro then allegedly assaulted Moyer by striking her several times with a closed fist and also pulled some of her hair out.Hydro was taken into custody and charged with burglary, criminal trespass and simple assault. He was arraigned before duty District Judge Casimir Kosciolek, of Lansford, and committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning in lieu of $3,000 cash bail.
