Complete normalcy was fast returning to the area today as emergency PP&L company crews went about effecting repairs to wires severed as the result of the severe sleet storm which paralyzed the region for almost 24 hours. Thomas Dougherty, district manager of PP&L, said more than 100 workers were operating in towns and rural areas of Carbon County to bring resumption of lighting for domestic users. Most homes in Mauch Chunk had electrical service restored today. More than 10,000 consumers were affected in the local region.
