James Harris II, 34, of Blakeslee, was committed to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, on charges relating to an assault case that was reported at 6:47 p.m., Dec. 24, at the Briar Crest Woods, Monroe County.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police said the man was taken into custody at his residence and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment.The victim is Sherry DeHaven, 43, of Bangor.Police said they responded to a residence along Laurel Drive in Briar Woods, where they learned from DeHaven that she was assaulted by Harris at his residence along Birch Drive. Police said the victim managed to get away from the assailant and went to a neighbor's house to call police.Police said she sustained multiple bite wounds and part of her lip was torn away. She was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for treatment.
