Ghosts, ghouls and goblins marched down Andreas Road as hundreds of onlookers watched during the annual Halloween Parade in Andreas.

The parade, organized by both the West Penn Lions Club and Andreas Sporting Club, consisted of over two dozen participating groups. Leading the parade was West Penn Police Chief Brian Johnson, followed by members of the Andreas VFW Post 5069 and the parade's Grand Marshals Bryan and Sharon Miller."A lot of work goes into this parade every year," said parade coordinator and West Penn Lion Lisa Sharpe."We appreciate all the support from all the volunteers, organizations and community."She expressed her appreciation for band director Mark Betz and all the attending members of the Tamaqua Raider Band who always come dressed up and ready to play.Following the parade, participants were invited to the Andreas Sporting Club for free hot dogs and refreshments.There were winners in multiple categories. Placing top in the float category were the Hehn and McArdle families placing first; Girl Scout Troops 1108 Brownies, Daisy 1208 and Juniors 0975, who placed second; and Troxell's Pumpkin Patch, placing third.Placing top in the marching category were Lehighton Brownie Troop 3862, who placed first; Tamaqua Daisy Troop 31296, who placed second; and Lehighton Cadette Troop 3583, who placed third.The parade committee consisted of Lions Sharpe, Pat and Joe Bednarik, Melissa Kistler, Bob and Judy Miller, Kurt Trumbauer, Mike and Tina Scott, and members of the Andreas Sporting Club."Without the joint support of the community and Andreas Sporting Club, we wouldn't have a Halloween parade," said Sharpe.
