Mrs. Robin Ortega of Hometown, widow of Marine Staff Sergeant Alexander Ortega, the first American to die during the fighting in Lebanon, was in Jacksonville, N.C. to take part in dedicating a memorial for the 262 Marines slain in Beirut and three killed in Grenada. The planting of a row of Bradford pear trees stretching almost four miles along the highway leading to Camp Lejeune was completed at the ceremony. About 500 people watched as the final seven pear trees were planted.
