Lehighton police issue citations

Several citations were issued by police in Lehighton borough.

• Jennifer Young, 35, of Maple Drive, Jim Thorpe, was cited for harassment after a physical altercation which occurred at J.D. Citro's, 328 S. Second St., Lehighton, on Saturday, March 26. The incident occurred just after midnight, police said.• Harassment charges involving physical contact were filed against three juvenile males, ages 12, 13, and 15, who are from Lehighton. Police said this was the result of an incident involving all three males which occurred on Wednesday, March 30, at 8:45 p.m. in the vicinity of the 100 block of South First Street, Lehighton.• Desire Mellano, 32, of 45 Short Ridge Dr., Kunkletown, was charged with issuing a bad check to Liberty Oil Company in the amount of $475. The check was written on Jan. 27, 2011, but was returned to Liberty Oil stamped "non-sufficient funds."• Michael Richardson, 18, of 116 Bridge St., Lehighton, was charged with unlawful delivery or manufacture of marijuana, and unlawful possession of marijuana. Police said that on March 14, at approximately 6:10 p.m., Richardson was found to be in possession of a black backpack which contained 13 packets of suspected marijuana while in the 100 block of Center Alley.A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 20.• Ronald Ventura, 24, of 109 Henning Rd., Albrightsville, was charged with retail theft, possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, unlawful possession of heroin, unlawful possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, false identification to law enforcement authorities, driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, and unauthorized transfer or use of registration plate.On Tuesday March 22 at about 8:10 p.m., police were summoned to the Rite Aid Pharmacy in the 200 block of North Second Street.Ventura was apprehended at the scene and further investigation resulted in the additional charges after Ventura was found to be in possession of 39 packets of heroin and 18 packets of cocaine.He was committed to Carbon County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 11.
