St. Jerome's School will mark Catholic Schools Week

St. Jerome Regional School in Tamaqua will accept registrations for Kindergarten through eight grade for the 2012-2013 school year beginning Monday of Catholic Schools Week (Jan. 30-Feb. 3).

St. Jerome Regional School is a Christ- centered Catholic School open to all, serving the parishes of St. Jerome, SS. Peter & Paul and St. Richard and surrounding parishes. SJRS, in partnership with each school family, strives to form a community of faith living and teaching the gospel message. The academic program meets the national, state and diocesan standards.Dates and times for registration will be: 1-3 p.m. on Jan. 30, Feb. 1 and Feb. 3; 6 -7:30 p.m. on Jan. 31-6 -7:30 p.m.; 4-6 p.m., Feb.2 4-6 p.m. Kindergarten students must be 5 years of age by Oct. 15, 2012.St. Jerome Regional School has announced the Bishop's Commission on Catholic Schools will offer $1500 tuition transfer grants to any parishioner who transfers their child into second to seventh grades from any private or public school. This grant is for $1000 in year one and $500 in year two.SJRS has been very effective at preparing children for a successful high school and college experience. The faculty is dedicated to maximizing the God-given potential of each child entrusted to their care in a nurturing family environment.With small class sizes and extracurricular activities, children will have a greater opportunity to participate and lead throughout the school year.For more information and a tour, please call SJRS principal, Mrs. Mary Ann Mansell at 570-668-2757. Financial assistance is available.Catholic Schools Week begins on Sunday, Jan. 29 and SJRS has many special activities planned.Monday, Jan. 30 is Mission Awareness Day. An Opening Prayer service to start CSW will begin at 9 a.m. Pastors will distribute report cards at 9:30 a.m. Kim Zardet, the Holy Childhood Association Director for the Diocese of Allentown, will present a program about missionary work and the Holy Childhood Association.Tuesday, Jan. 31 is Teacher Appreciation Day. A continental breakfast will be served to faculty and staff.Wednesday, Feb. 1 is Home & School/volunteers Appreciation. The CSW liturgy is at 9 a.m., followed by a special morning treat for volunteers served by student council.Thursday, Feb. 2 is Grandparent's Day. Grandparents are invited to morning snack with their grandchildren in the gym at 9:30 a.m. Students in Grades K -8 will provide entertainment for the grandparents at 10 a.m. This is under the direction of Paul Mulhern, performing arts instructor.Friday, Feb. 3 is Student Appreciation Day at SJRS. It is a dress down-day for the students. The Home and School Association is providing lunch and an afternoon treat. Students in Grades K -8 will participate in a dance-off in the gym throughout the day.
