VFW Post 7215 holds members Christmas party

The Ladies Auxiliary of R.W. Fritzinger VFW Post 7215, Walnutport, held a Christmas party for children and grandchildren of members on Dec. 8.

Twenty-four children were registered. Santa Claus brought each a candy cane and chocolate Santa Claus and the auxiliary contributed several gifts and a bag of goodies. The children had each been good all year and made sure Santa knew about it when they told him what they wanted. After each child had an opportunity to talk with Santa privately, he left with a wave of his hand and a final "ho, ho, ho" and a cheerful "Merry Christmas" before going on to visit other children. Dale Butz was Santa's helper who came to the VFW.Auxiliary President Karen Bandzi, along with Gail Strohl and Mick Minnich, did the shopping for the Christmas presents. The three were joined by Mandy Frantz, Carey Ann Serfass, Sierra Digrazia and Bonnie Abraham for the gift wrapping. It was the ninth season for the Christmas party. There are always between 24 and 30 children. The party provides hot dogs, chips and soda or orange drink before everyone heads for home. The auxiliary holds fundraisers throughout the year and the VFW donates money toward the gifts. Social members of the VFW received a paper stocking hung in front of the room for each donation and this year the pool team, a new group, donated $35.

Audriana and Sydney Wertman came to the Post to have their pictures taken with Santa Claus.
