Andrew James Shavel, 34, of Wernersville, Berks County, is facing trial in Carbon County on an alleged indecent assault against a 9-year-old Carbon County girl.

Shavel is charged with aggravated indecent assault, two counts of indecent assault, and corruption of minors.He waived a hearing on the charges that had been scheduled before District Judge Edward Lewis of Jim Thorpe.Bail for Shavel was set at 10 percent of $250,000.He was arrested on the charges by Trooper Brian Silliman of the Fern Ridge barracks of the state police.Trooper Silliman writes in his affidavit that the defendant allegedly pulled the victim onto a bed and got on top of her. The victim said Shavel's pants were unbuttoned and unzipped at the time, and that he was exposed.The victim also claimed that on another occasion, Shavel laid next to her and again exposed himself.The alleged offenses occurred in Kidder Township.
