Lehighton UVO seeking recruits

Published April 18. 2012 05:01PM

Lehighton United Veterans Organization (UVO) is actively seeking new members to fill their ranks. If you are a veteran and a member in good standing of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), AMVETS, or any other creditable veterans organization and reside in the Lehighton area and would like to join us.

Lehighton UVO is a veteran based community minded group who promotes the core values of Americanism. The Lehighton UVO provides color guard details for programs, ceremonies, community events, parades and the like. It also provides honor guard details for military funerals and memorial services. The Lehighton UVO coordinates the annual Memorial Day programs throughout the Lehighton area and other events as well. They are also responsible for the placing of flags on the deceased veterans' grave sites, ensuring there are correct markers, that worn flags are removed.

There are no dues to belong to this organization. They ask for whatever time you could give to be part of this worthwhile organization.

The Lehighton UVO meets at 7 p.m. the second Monday of each month at American Legion Post 314, Lehighton. Any questions or interested in joining should contact K.M. "Spike" Long, Lehighton UVO, president, at (610) 377-9736.
