Monroe County Seniors will meet on Friday, Dec. 23, at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville. However, the church office will be closed that day.The group will also meet on Dec. 28 and Dec. 30. Meetings begin at 9 a.m.Three servicesZion Lutheran Church will hold three worship services on Dec. 24, Christmas Eve. Times are 3:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. All are candlelight services.There will only be one service on Sunday, Dec. 25, Christmas Day at 10 a.m.Candidate for ministryKen Edwards, youth leader at Effort UMC and Saturday evening service leader, was recently approved as a Christ Servant Minister of Speaking Ministries. He was also approved as a candidate for Pastoral Ministry by the District Committee.Contemporary serviceEffort UMC will begin a contemporary worship service in January 2012. The start up services are set for Jan. 15, Feb. 19 and March 18. The service will begin at 9:45 a.m. Regular services are at 8:30 and 11 a.m.Mt. Eaton servicesThree candlelighting worship services will be offered on Christmas Eve at Mt. Eaton Church in Saylorsburg. Times are 5, 7 and 11 p.m.On Sunday, Christmas Day there will be a worship service at 8 a.m.Ringing bellsMembers of the Western Pocono Lions Club volunteered to ring the bells for the Salvation Army at Kinsley's ShopRite in Brodheadsville this past Monday.Christmas MassesOur Lady Queen of Peace Church will hold Christmas Masses on Saturday, Dec. 24, at 4 p.m., 7 p.m. and at 10 p.m. There will be no confessions on Dec. 24.On Sunday, Dec. 25, Mass will be held at 10 a.m. and at noon.There will be no Mass at 8 a.m. on either day.St. Nick ProjectEffort UMC's St. Nick project benefitted over 25 families this year.
