A suspect in the robbery of a jewelry store in Monroe County is in custody in New York.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said they were notified on Wednesday, Dec. 14, by the U.S. Marshal's Service that Robert Milazzo, 37, of Tobyhanna, was in custody in Suffolk County, N.Y. PMRP said they obtained a warrant for Milazzo's arrest following the investigation of a burglary at Diamond Jewelers, located along SR611, in Mount Pocono, that occurred on Dec. 2.Police said through the course of the investigation evidence developed that pointed to Milazzo as a suspect. Attempts to find him at his home and in the Tobyhanna area failed. Police then got a warrant for his arrest but were still unable to find him.Police said they learned that Milazzo may have returned to his native Suffolk County. The U.S. Marshal's office was notified and given a copy of the warrant. On Dec. 12 Pocono police were contacted by Suffock County police who said contact was made with Milazzo following a traffic stop but he fled on foot. Then Pocono police received word from the marshal's office that he was in custody and in the Suffock jail. Milazzo is facing burglary and related offenses and will be extradited from New York.
