Theft of copper being probed

State police at Fern Ridge are investigating two incidents in which copper was reported stolen.

Troopers said 27 feet of copper pipe was removed from a residence at 191 Keats Lane, in Towamensing Trails in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. The pipe was located outside the home and ran between a propane tank and a stove which is located inside the home, troopers said. The copper is valued at $150. The incident occurred sometime between Nov. 7 and 14. The home is owned by Brian McEwing, 52, of North Cape May, N.J.The second theft occurred at 811 Shamrock Lane, in Jackson Township, Monroe County. Several copper items were removed from outside a garage on the property. The theft occurred sometime between Nov. 26 and Dec. 4. Troopers did not identify the homeowner.
