Eight area residents were among 18 who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges in Schuylkill County court and were sentenced by Judge Charles M. Miller.

Leonard A. Ruggiero, 54,of 101 First St., Coaldale, on two counts of delivery of a controlled substance was sentenced to serve nine to 23 months in the county prison beginning Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 9:30 a.m.On two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia he received a concurrent 12 months probation sentence on each charge. Ruggiero must pay $200 in fines, pay $100 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA), $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund and make restitution of $205 to Coaldale Police Department. Ruggiero was cited by Patrolman Charles Blesse.Kimberly Ann Keach, 35,of 256 Brown St., Tamaqua, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was placed on probation 12 months, pay $100 to SAE fund, and $50 to CJEA. On a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana drew a 30 day probation to run concurrent. Keach was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Karl Harig.Derek Anthony Shellhamer, 24, of 307 Arlington St., Tamaqua, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was placed on probation 12 months and on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana drew a concurrent 30 days probation. Shellhamer also must pay $100 to SAE fund, and $50 to CJEA. He was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Thomas Rodgers.Jaden Diacheysn, 23, of Nesquehoning, on a charge of resisting arrest was sentenced to serve two to 18 months in the county prison with the sentence to run concurrent with sentences imposed by Carbon County Court, with credit for serving 18 days in prison.On charges of loitering and prowling at night and disorderly conduct by engaging in fighting received a concurrent 12 months probation sentence on each charge. He also must pay a fine of $1,000 and $50 to CJEA. Diacheysn was cited by Coaldale Patrolman Jeremy Talanca.Daniel M. Bell, 33, of 332 E. Patterson St., Lansford, on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) was sentenced to serve 48 hours to six months in the county prison, pay a fine of $500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, $50 to Catastrophe fund, attend safety school, undergo outpatient substance abuse treatment and his license is suspended 12 months. On a charge of not having a proper rear light was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Bell was cited by Coaldale Patrolman Jeremy Talanca.Kathy Ann Carroll, 39, of 150 Second St., Coaldale. on a charge of criminal trespass was placed on probation for 12 months, pay $100 to CJEA, and perform 10 hours of community service. On a charge of criminal mischief was fined $50. Carroll was cited by Coaldale Patrolman Gabriel Szozda, for trespassing on property of the American Legion, 326 Ridge Terrace, and must have no contact with Lora Maly.William A. Campbell, 44,of 19 Crystal Lane, Barnesville, on a charge of DUI was sentenced to serve 30 days to six months in the county prison with his sentence to begin Jan. 2, 2012, at 9:30 a.m., pay a fine of $750, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, $50 to Catastrophe fund, attend alcohol highway safe driving school and undergo intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment. His driver's license is suspended 12 months.On the summary charges of failing to have a driver's license was fined $200 and having improper lighting requirements on his vehicle was fined $25 plus $100 in costs. Campbell was cited by Rush Township Patrolman Adam Sinton.Michael Jay Brodie, 26, of 123 W. Blaine St., McAdoo, on a charge of terroristic threats, was placed on probation 18 months, and pay $50 to CJEA. He also must enroll in the Anger Management Program. On a charge of public drunkenness was fined $25. Brodie was cited by McAdoo Patrolman Anthony Divergilio. He was charged with terrorizing Renee Keefers.Ernest Dale Schaeffer, 35, Schuylkill Haven, on a charge of simple assault, was placed on probation 12 months, and pay $50 to CJEA. He was cited by Trooper Robert Kluge and charged with assaulting Pamela Heiser, Oak Road, Washington Township.Raymond Howard Gregory II, Saint Clair, on a charge of loitering and prowling at night in area of 100 block on Arnot Street, Saint Clair, was placed on probation 12 months, and pay $50 to CJEA. On a charge of disorderly conduct was fined $50. Gregory was cited by Patrolman Joseph J. Leskin Jr.Gregory also pleaded guilty to a charge of theft by deception by passing bad check and was sentenced to serve 23 months probation to run consecutive to the first sentence, pay $50 to CJEA and make restitution of $90 to BG's Market, Minersville. He was cited by Trooper Timothy Rymarkiewicz.Shane Matthew Kerrigan, 20, Gilberton, on a DUI charge was sentenced to serve 48 hours to six months in the county prison, fined $500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $50 to CJEA, attend safety school and license suspended 12 months. Kerrigan was cited by Trooper Michael Marinchak when stopped on SR61, north of Friedensburg.Maurice Giddings, 23, Philadelphia, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, was given credit for spending 211 days in the county prison and was released on parole for 18 months, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, make restitution of $226 to Bethlehem Regional Lab and $40 to Schuylkill County Drug Task Force.Bryan Kervin Hoffer, 29, Lebanon, on a charge of resisting arrest was given credit for serving 120 days and was released on parole for 23 months, and pay $50 to CJEA. Hoffer was cited by Ashland Patrolman Mark O'Hearn.Mary Rivera Crosland, 48, Mahanoy City, on a charge of driving while her operating privileges were suspended was sentenced to serve a flat 60 days in the county prison and pay a fine of $1,000. On a charge of involved in a hit-and-run accident on SR61 in Pottsville was placed on probation 12 months. Crosland was cited by Patrolman Kirk Becker.Craig V. Brennan, 34, Girardville, on a charge of aggravated assault was sentenced to serve 15 to 30 months in a state correctional institution and received credit for serving 219 days in the county prison.On charges of escape received a concurrent 15 to 30 months sentence and on resisting arrest a concurrent four to 24 months sentence. Brennan also must make restitution of $1,117.84 to Girardville for damaging borough property at office of District Justice Elilzabeth A. Romig in Frackville.Robert J. Fitzpatrick, 48, Valley View, Hegins Township, on a DUI charge was sentenced to serve 48 hours to six months in the county prison with the sentence to begin Dec. 26 at 9:30 a.m., fined $500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, and attend safety school. On a charge of headlights on car not working was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Fitzpatrick was cited by Minersville Patrolman Jason A. Klouser.Amanda Moriah Canavan, 26, Girardville, on a charge of DUI of drugs was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison, fined $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab, attend safety school, undergo outpatient substance abuse treatment and license suspended 12 months.On a charge of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia received a concurrent 12 months probation sentence and on a charge of careless driving was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Canavan was cited by McAdoo Patrolman Shawn Kistler.Joshua Richard Gaugler, 21, Northampton, entered a plea of nolo contendre (no defense) and on a charge of theft by unlawful taking was sentenced to serve 11 1/2 to 23 months in the county prison with credit for having served 273 days, fined $100, and pay $50 to CJEA.On charges of criminal conspiracy and another theft by unlawful taking received concurrent sentences of nine to 23 months on each count. On the charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle received a concurrent sentence of 12 months probation. Gaugler also must make restitution of $773.13 to Traveler's Insurance Company, $685.50 to James Medvetz and $952.31 to Freedom Blue Insurance Company. He was cited by Tamaqua Cpl. Henry Woods.Each defendant must also pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
