State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating an atttempted burglary and other incidents.

The attempted break-in occurred at P&L Auto Parts, located in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Unknown criminals hit the front metal door in an apparent attempt to gain entry and in doing so set off the alarm system. The incident occurred about 1:02 a.m. on Oct. 19.Troopers are probing the theft of a vehicle registration plate. John F. Irvin, of White Haven, reported the plate missing from his vehicle while at his residence at 5142 SR940 in East Side Boro. The plate number is XT50651. The theft occurred sometime between Nov. 8-11.Troopers are investigating a retail theft incident that occurred at the Exxon station located at SR115 and Gilbert Road, in Chestnuthill Township. A white male entered the station and took three packs of "Crunky Monkey" incense valued at $20 a pack. The incident occurred about 8:46 p.m. on Nov. 10.Bruce Soto, 37, of Stroudsburg, reported someone used his credit card to charge items at a Target store. The incident was reported on Nov. 12.
