Students say "Thank You"

Students and staff of the Tamaqua Area School High School held their annual Veterans and Flag Raising Ceremony this morning in the front of the Senior High School in celebration of Veterans Day. Besides various speakers, the Tamaqua Area High School Jazz Chorale sang patriotic songs, while students read a roll call of veterans employed by the school district. Veterans groups on hand for the service were the Schuylkill Carbon Marine Corps League Detachment 626 and Tamaqua American Legion C.H. Berry Post 173. Students who provided remarks included Patrick McMullen, Emily Zancofsky, Chelsea Frantz and Tyler Groner. The service also consisted of a gun salute and the playing of "Taps" by members of the Legion. Student Tyler Groner said, "We should be humble by this special observance as our actions today stand as a memorial to those who have risked their lives to preserve freedom and liberties which we so often take for granted." Adding, "They say that the love of liberty exceeds the love of death. To those who serve and have served we say, "Thank you!"
