A Northumberland County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) of a controlled substance following a one vehicle crash in Schuylkill County. State police at Frackville said the crash occurred about 4:25 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, along Interstate 81 in Delano Township.

Troopers said Rebecca Kotanchik, 29, of Shamokin, was driving a 2004 Kia Amanti southbound when the vehicle left the roadway on the west side and into a grassy area.The vehicle continued for about 275-feet through the grass area and struck a mile marker sign with the front end. The vehicle continued south for another 80-feet and then re-entered the road traveling east where it crossed both lanes.The vehicle then left the road on the east side and traveled about 20-feet where it struck a dirt embankment and back onto the east berm where it came to rest.Kotanchik was injured but troopers did not indicate if she required medical attention. Troopers said she was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance.She was cited for motor vehicle code violations with the DUI charge pending test results. Assisting at the scene were volunteers from the Delano and Ryan Township fire companies and Ryan ambulance.
