An experiment in revegetating the landscape near Palmerton is literally beginning to bear fruit. Scientist John Oyler, working with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, is supervising with Dr. William Sopper of Penn State University, a project that may ultimately reforest areas of the Blue Mountain above Palmerton. "We've very pleased," said Oyler, surveying acres of mountainside where eight varieties of grass and various species of trees have been battling contaminated soil since Spring.
