Amped for O.J. will help local man fulfill his wish to travel

"Amped up for O.J." will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5, at Ryan Township Fire Co., Barnsville, Route 54, to benefit Oscar O.J. Witmayer, who is diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the event will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. The event includes food, drinks, door prizes, Chinese auction, face painting, balloon animals for kids and live entertainment.

Witmayer was 29 years old in Oct. 2007, when he was admitted to the hospital with simple stomach pains. In less than 48 hours later, his life was turned upside down as he was prepped for emergency surgery. Later that day, he found out that he had cancerous tumor in his small intestine and doctors were unable to remove the entire mass.O.J. struggled with dealing with his disease and can no longer work. He was given a time span of five to seven years to live. He has spent a large amount of time in the hospital enduring numerous treatments which simply lessens the side effects of the disease. There is no cure for Carcinoid cancer.Oscar has always had a dream to travel across country and explore the United States.
