Power still out for many

PPL crews are out in force repairing hundreds of downed power lines following Saturday's freak snowfall. According to the PPL website, about 51,000 customers remain out of power in the Lehigh Valley as of 6 a.m. this morning, while another 8,000 customers are still out of service in Lancaster. Electricity has been restored to almost 270,000 customers affected by the weekend snowstorm. Some areas in the TIMES NEWS still without power are West Penn Township, 270; Lower Towamensing Township, 353; Allen Township, 503; and others. Restoration will continue into the week in harder-hit areas. A PPL press release stated, "As we finish work in areas with fewer outages, we will be moving crews to the Lehigh Valley and Lancaster to help with recovery efforts there."
