Schuylkill crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven were kept busy over the past several days investigating numerous crashes on Schuylkill County roadways.

A two vehicle crash occurred about 2:17 p.m. on Oct. 27 along Cressona Road in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Lori L. Sult, 51,of Pine Grove, was southbound and stopped in a 2006 Jeep Liberty for traffic. Robert R. Stump Jr., 51, of Schuylkill Haven, southbound in a 2001 Mercury Sable LS failed to see the vehicle stopped ahead of him and his car struck the rear of the Jeep.Both drivers sustained minor injuries and were taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville. Stump was cited for driving too fast for conditions.Another two vehicle crash on Oct. 27 occurred about 5:42 p.m. along SR901 in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Kimberly A. Clay, 48, of Minersville, was eastbound in a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer and stopped attempting a left turn. Robert C. Pope Jr., 65, of Pottsville, driving a 1999 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck was eastbound and lost control of his vehicle on the wet road and struck the rear of the Trailblazer.No one was injured. Troopers cited Pope for driving too fast for conditions.Troopers investigated a one vehicle crash about 7:34 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, along SR443 (Pleasant Valley Road) near Heather Lane, in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Nicholas D. Hamilton, 18, of Pine Grove, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier westbound when a deer entered the road in front of him. He struck the deer with is car damaing the windshield. Hamilton and a 15-year-old male passenger from Pine Grover were not injured.A one vehicle crash was reported on Friday about 6:46 p.m. along SR61, in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said John J. Roberts, 53, of Allentown, was northbound in a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe when a deer entered the road in front of him. The vehicle struck the deer. Roberts was not injured.Poor road conditions were blamed for a crash that occurred about 3:47 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, along SR61 at Maple Blvd., in Deer Lake. Troopers said Sherry Cromleigh, of Duncannon, Perry County, was northbound in a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee when she lost control on the slush-covered road. The Jeep began to slide sideways with the rear passenger side door striking a tree along the east berm. After impact with the tee the Jeep came to rest along the berm.Cromleigh and passenger, Jennifer Sahchez, also of Duncannon, and three children, ages 12, 11 and four, all sustained minor to moderate injuries. Troopers did not indicate if they required medical treatment. Troopers cited Cromleigh for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.Troopers investigated a crash about 12:06 p.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Pottsville and Park sts., in Mechanicsville. Troopers said Megan M. Brennan, 29, of Pottsville, was driving a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe southbound on Park while William J. Anthony, 28, of Port Carbon, was westbound on Pottsville St. in a 2008 Jeep Patriot Sport.Brennan lost control on the snow-covered road coming down a speep hill, traveled through the intersection and was struck by Anthony's vehicle. After impact the Santa Fee spun counter-clockwise through the intersection.Anthony sustained a minor injury and was taken to the SMC-E. Norwegian St., Pottsville.A hit and run accident was reported on Sunday, Oct. 30, at Spruce and Pine sts., in Port Carbon. Troopers said a 2001 Nissan Xterra was parked in a lot at the intersection while vehicle was being driven west on Spruce. The vehicle struck the front of the Xterra and the driver then fled the scene.The crash occurred sometime between 2 and 11 a.m.
