Members of the Hazleton State Motor Police were called to Tresckow, when nine young men of that town, who had been arrested on gambling charges following a raid and who were ordered committed to jail in default of payment of their fines, went on a "sit down strike" in the Justice's office, and refused to go to the bastile. The arrests had been made by Constable John Gordish, who is also a deputy sheriff. The nine refused to move in the direction of the jail, as a huge throng watched the proceedings.
