Future Focus, the Historic Preservation and Tourism Taskforce of Northern Lehigh is sponsoring a contest called "I Spy."

They posted 20 close-up pictures of architectural details that are part of a larger structure, which are all located along Main Street between Slatington and Walnutport. Contestants are required to identify and reveal the location where each detail is located.Marilyn Kaul, Historic Preservation and Tourism Task Force of Future Focus and Board Member, Robert Stettner said, we tried to add a variety of things. Some are harder than others to find because they are part of a larger structure, but they are all visible.There's an alligator embedded in a stone wall, a cast iron fence that looks like a grape vine, a bell tower, a lion's head, an intricate turret, a stained glass window, decorative mosaic tile and twelve other interesting features scattered between the two boroughs.Until this contest, the details have gone almost unnoticed and overlooked in the Slatington and Walnutport Community for years. The turrets, copulas and fancy woodwork when discovered add a layer of interest and appreciation for the architectural art that is right here in Slatington and Walnutport.The contest is generating a lot of interest. Even the UPS man, who travels Slatington and Walnutport Main streets regularly asks Stettner for hints on where the alligator might be. But, right now, it's all top secret and won't be revealed until after the contest deadline on November 1.Registration forms available at Slatington Borough Hall, Walnutport Borough Hall, D.L. Stevens Antiques, Slatington Library, Northern Valley Gazette, Galio's Market and Facebook. Members of NL Future Focus and their immediate family are not eligible to participate.
