Concourse Club

The Palmerton Concourse Club will meet at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 3, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. The program for the evening will be "All American Artisans in Women's Fashions," presented by Marianne Monteleone Design.Anyone interested in joining this service club is asked to call Joan Turko at (610) 826-2716 for more information.Bloodmobile at PAHSMiller-Keystone Blood Center will conduct a blood drive for Palmerton Area High School students and staff on Monday, Nov. 7, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.Those eligible are encouraged to donate blood components (platelets, plasma, and/or red cells) on the Trima machines.This process gives them credit for two or three units, and takes an hour to an hour-and-a-half.Minimum requirements for any donors are: 17 years of age (no maximum age); 110 pounds; no tattoos or body piercings within the last 12 months; and general good health.There is no minimum time after a flu shot before donating, unless you have a reaction.For specific medical information, call Miller, at 1-800-223-6667 during office hours.First-time donors should bring photo ID, such as a driver's license. Previous Miller donors should bring their Miller ID cards.Students are reminded that the school requires signed parental permission slips.Health and Safety FairA Health and Safety Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5, at S.S. Palmer Elementary School.There will be free flu vaccines, a blood drive, ID's for children and more.Adult Book ClubAn adult book club meets the third Monday of each month from noon to 1:15 p.m. at the Palmerton Area Library. On Nov. 21, they will discuss "The Book Thief" by Marcus Zusak.Stop in the library for more information, or call (610) 826-3424.Organ concertOn Sunday, Nov. 6, at 3 p.m., an organ concert will be sponsored by the Palmerton Area Historical Society in its Little White Church at Third and Columbia avenues.Presiding at the console of the Allen organ will be Robert Ormesher, organist at Salem Lutheran Church in Bethlehem.This dedication concert is to recognize longtime Palmerton resident, Dorothy Kegel and her family, for their donation of the organ to the society's historic church.
