Load of corn overturns on Rt. 209

A driver of a truck escaped injury Monday morning when he rolled his truck along SR209 in Towamensing Township, Carbon County. The crash occurred at 7 a.m. as the driver was traveling south. For some unknown reason he lost control of the truck, crossing into the northbound lanes then apparently over reacted and swerved the truck back to the southbound lanes where it slid broadside and rolled onto its side. The entire contents of corn spilled onto the berm of the roadway. For a period of time the roadway was closed until the truck could be uprighted. The Towamensing Township Fire Company volunteers responded to the scene. State police at Lehighton are investigating the incident.
