The hotel and residence of Mrs. Selinda Hinkle, widow of Charles Hinkle, located along the concrete highway in West Penn Township, Quakake Valley, near the Schuylkill County line, was completely destroyed by fire of undetermined origin about 1:30 a.m. today. A landmark of Quakake Valley, the hotel was the scene of many sleigh riding parties in years gone-by and was widely known for the chick and waffle suppers it served, as well as for the old time dances held there. An airplane pilot reported the fire, which was teletyped.
